Yesterday was a very long day. Accordingly, I was unable to write. But it's Friday now! Yeah!
Today was also a very tiring day. We had a Spanish quiz which apparently everybody failed, which is not very fun at all. You see, Mr. T gave us a list of (68) vocab words which we had to copy down five times each. That was a week before the test. Unfortunately, we all just copy the words down without thinking about their meaning, so when test time came 'round, we were all hit by that metaphorical tether ball which we had hurled lazily into our future. I've never liked tetherball.
After school, we had track. Today was a workout day since yesterday was a "rest" day. By "resting," I mean to say that we ran ~6 miles in 40 minutes. Fun stuff. Anyway, we had to run 8 sets of 400 meter sprints, and I managed to run each in 79 or 80 seconds, which is alright. I just started track two weeks ago as opposed to people who have been doing it since cross country season in Fall, so I'm slightly behind the curve. Hopefully I'll pull off the comeback, though :D
Then, at 7:00 p.m., my friends and I went to Chamber Music Night: two and a half hours of listening to smooth jazz and classical performances while eating desserts. Ugh. I'm so glad that's over with. As I told my friend Franklin, I had the same mentality during that show as I did while running the 400 meter intervals at track today.... "Only three more to go! C'mon, you can do this, Ryan!!!"
So that's about it. There are many detailed stories which I could tell from these two days, but those are just a tad too personal ;) It's been a very juicy three day week, though. I can barely resist the temptation to inscribe my knowledge on the permanent stone slab which is the internet! :P
Today's "Diverting" Fact of the Day: The Bible is the world's best-selling book.... and the most shoplifted!
I'm pretty sure Jesus wouldn't approve. Religion can be so screwed up sometimes.
Today, I also have a link of the day! http://www.ea.com/battlefield3/videos/gameplay-debut
BATTLEFIELD 3!!!!! OMGOMGOMG
Have a nice weekend.

High School is no piece of cake. Although it isn't the slushie-filled hell portrayed in Glee, it is still a very stressful place to go. Beneath its shell of friendship and learning lies a masked world of deception, hatred, mistrust, criticism, and a whole crapload of homework. However horrible it may be, though, we all live through it somehow. So, how is it done? How does the teenage boy, fresh out of middle school, survive the crushing grasp of 9th grade?

2300 Hours, 24 February
I FINALLY finished my Spanish homework! Now tomorrow I only have to do Biology, World Studies, English, and Algebra homework... FML :P
I also got to play some BFBC2 with my bro Brian, whom I have mentioned earlier. He apparently was "really tired" because he supposedly got 6 hours of sleep last night.... at least that's how I interpreted his moans. I got some nice shots captured via my top-of-the-line Easycap *sarcasm* which I hope to post on YouTube sometime within the nextweek month year. Anyway, I should probably go to sleep. I've got a long day ahead of me. But first, I guess I should study for my World Studies exam.......... ughhhh

I just found out that I got a 96% on a Spanish test I didn't study for. To be honest, I didn't know half the things that were on the test. Somehow, I only missed two problems. Todos los días, amigo ;)
Erotic Bowling Balls and a VERY Tiring Day
I. Am. So. Tired!
Today was a Wednesday, so class started at 8:53. I couldn't fall asleep last night until around 1 a.m., so I was still pretty tired this morning.
Anyway, in band today, Mr. D told us that we can either a) go to a special, former-student concert for an hour and a half OR b) write a three page, single-spaced, 12 point font essay about the history of jazz, along with a follow-up presentation to the class. I guess he REALLY wants us to go to that concert!
After lunch, I had a 5-lap run in P.E. Fun stuff. I got my best time so far, though (7:16), which I was quite proud of. I ran the first three laps WAY too fast- my first lap was 67 seconds- and I really felt that afterward. The rest of the day went quite smoothly, though. It was really nice to see all my friends again after what felt like a mini vacation. I was also able to get all my signatures for my guidance counselor meeting tomorrow, which is a plus. I'm really not looking forward to A/G calc or Spanish III Honors, though :P
Then came the most stressful part of today: track practice. I'm probably just complaining because I'm out of shape, and coach Jen said it would be a hard workout, but it was surprisingly tiring. Basically, we ran 4 pairs of 200 and 400 meter sprints, with 90 seconds of rest between each pair. After that, we ran a 15 minute cooldown off campus. The group I was in was composed of two juniors, someone who I think was a sophomore, and another freshman. Unfortunately, this certain freshman is infamous for being overly quiet to the extent that he says around one or two sentences daily. Thus, I was forced to listen uncomfortably as the two juniors (who seemed to be very good friends) chatted on. I kept wanting to chime in, but the moment never felt quite right. Besides, I'm a freshman.... they wouldn't want to talk with me, would they? At last, we finished our workout and were free to go home.
I should probably stop writing so I can finish up my homework. When I really think about it, most of the work I have this week is due Friday.... but maybe this once I'll decide not to screw myself over ;) World Studies exam tomorrow.... I guess I should also study up about Japan.
Fun Fact of the Day: Japan is a pacifist nation! Who knew....
For those of you who knew that one already, here's another.
Dueling is legal in Paraguay as long as both parties are registered blood donors!
So next time you want to settle a score with an old rival, sign some medical forms, grab your passport, and head on over to Paraguay. If anybody asks, I didn't just say that.

PS My friend Roger made up this story today at lunch where he had a "sexual adventure" with a bowling ball. From now on, I will be sure to check the holes before putting my fingers in.

Selfish Jealousy and Corny Metaphors
Today was a pretty good day, mostly because I got ~12 hours of sleep. ANYWHO, I hung out with Liam and Vincent a bit today, who are two of my Asian pals. Vincent had to go to badminton, though, so for about two hours it was just Liam and I.
It's hard to explain how I feel about being friends with Liam. He's one of those friends who's exceptionally amiable and extroverted to the extent that he is "everybody's buddy". That being said, I have an odd resentfulness to that breed of person. I agree, it's nice to be friends with someone who is kind, funny, and entertaining, but it's hard to measure how good your relationship is with that person if they act the same way to everyone they know. Personally, I prefer friends that are more "specialized" in a way. It's hard to explain.... here, I'll give you an example. Say someone comes up to me and is all like "Wazzup dude." We become quick friends, but that same person is always busy talking to other people. Then, I see some other guy sitting alone at a table and I say hi to him. We also become friends, but he prefers to talk with me then to other people. I prefer the second type of person. I guess I just prefer the unique attention one gets from that kind of friend in contrast to the manufactured kindness of the other (I have to say this, though: even if Liam's kindness is manufactured, it's extremely similar to the real deal... which, simply put, is what caused me to be confused in the first place).
To be honest, I think I feel this way out of jealousy. Liam seems to know everybody East of the Pacific, and the fact of the matter is that I wish he would treat me with more attention than others. The problem there is that I can't tell if he is doing so already. We've only known each other since the beginning of school (August), so it's hard to judge. Maybe I'll ask him some time. I'll get back to you on that.
Anyway, we had plenty of fun. When I got back, I had a lot of homework to do: Spanish, Alg. II, and Bio. Actually, I still have some Biology homework.... just a little, though ;)
Tomorrow, I have to go back to school, which worries me. I'm not worried about the algebra quiz I have tomorrow, nor about the homework I'll have to do, nor the five laps we have to run, nor about the new fifth graders I'm going to have to mentor for music mentoring. All that stuff is a constant in life; it's all predictable. Only the variables worry me: in other words, the people I'm going to talk to. Will they still be friendly, or are they too cool for me now? Yes, I am highly paranoid and self-conscious :P
That's about it. I hope that tomorrow will be a smooth transition out of the relaxation of break into the steady pounding of high school's hammer. Just practicing my metaphors....

February 21st: The Attack of the Crazy Friend :P
Today was............ interesting. To say the least. I got to hang out with my bro Bryan today. He's an odd fellow... here's a pic http://imsuchachild.files.wordpress.com/2006/06/storm-trooper-pelvic-thrust.gif?w=490. Yeah, he's really into the whole pelvic thrusting thing.... what can I say, he's an only child ;)
I also got a call from my babe Liam (I'm straight by the way). I'm probably going to hang out with him tomorrow, which will be fun. Last time, he invited this crazy unique friend of his who had a number of.... immature ideas. When I friended him on Facebook, I found out that he's a Republican.... Go figure.
My bro is out skiing with my aunt and uncle, which I find really unfair. He gets the whole week off, while my school only gets Friday-Tuesday off. I've only been skiing once, so I'm pretty jealous :/ A lot of my friends went skiing this weekend, including my bro Franklin. Yeah. Lucky me.
Hopefully tomorrow will be more exciting than today....

February 20th, 2011: 670 Days Before Apocalypse
Hey, it's me, Ryan. Today has been a long day... not. This happens to be the third day of a five day weekend (win) so I don't have to worry about homework until Tuesday! Anyway, I had a futsal game today which my team won 7-6.... or was it 6-5? One of the two. Yeah, my team is pretty kickass (pardon the language). For those of you as bored as me, I have a challenge for you: analyze the meaning of this sentence...
When will the resting ancestor toe the line on top of the killer?
The first person to discover the secret meaning to this sentence and email the answer to me at redsoxxxx5@gmail.com will receive a prize! You guessed it... IT'S A NEW CAR!! Jk.
Anyway, I continue to play soccer and futsal and am currently part of the high school track team. I used to also play baseball and basketball, but I got confused whenever someone told me I had a "b-ball" game and missed enough games for each that I got kicked off the teams. Oh well.
So yeah, that's about it. I'm new to this, so gimme suggestions!

Introduction
Hello! Actually (being a teen) I'm somewhat obligated to say "Hey." For those of you who did not read the "About Me," I am a high school freshman. Much like everybody else my age, these are the years through which I am struggling to find "me": what kind of person I am, what will I eventually do for a living, and, most importantly, what difference I will choose to make in the world. Through this blog, I will portray the epic strives of an average teen as he tries to cope with the chaos of high school society.
Wow, that was a really cheesy intro.
Okay, lemme put it this way: I tell you what's up with my life, and you read it. To the teens reading this, it'll be like going through high school together. To the adults reading this.... pedophile much? haha
